HEMISPHERES   Seeing Through the Body

Sight is rooted in the body where the left eye connects with the right hemisphere of the brain and the left side of the body, while the right eye connects to the left hemisphere of the brain and right side of the body. The orientation of the eyes also connects to the sun and moon, day and night, and masculine and feminine through the tree of life and the heavenly man which is superimposed over the body in alchemy and Kabbalistic imagery.

The body is essential as a lens for the soul and the dead and as a way to manifest the soul in a body of art where she can be perceived. In this section we will explore the embodiment of the soul in art and the perception of the body as a tacit or proprioceptive lens. Embodiment was essential to the dead and the soul in The Red Book and it is essential to understanding this process.
